To deal with our population-level studies we have the facilities required for the isolation of nucleic acids from up to 100 samples on a day. Our robot can isolate in only 25 minutes high quality DNA and in 40 minutes high quality RNA from 12 samples simultaneously.

We verify the quality of the isolated nucleic acids by gel of electrophoresis and quantify them using fluorescence spectrophotometry and UV-visible spectrum spectrophotometry.

We run many different molecular biology applications in our PCR machines and we can obtain data for differential gene expression and SNP genotyping using our quantitative PCR machine.

Finally we can also make us of reverse genetics to understand the effects of genes on phenotype by using the CRISPR/CAS 9 system in butterflies (so far).
