Course description

In this course you will study extragalactic astronomy, with emphasis on the origin and evolution of galaxies. The lectures focus on the physical processes important for the formation and evolution of galaxies.These include formation of stars, the feedback from supernovae and stellar winds, dynamical processes within and between galaxies, chemical enrichment, dust, active galactic nuclei, and the mixing of the interstellar medium.
