One PhD position is available to work with Dr. Evan O'Connor (evan.oconnor@astro.su.se) on the modeling of core-collapse supernovae.  The project will focus on carrying out multidimensional hydrodynamic simulations of this final stage of the evolution of massive stars with the goal of predicting the formation mechanism and population properties of low mass black holes and the electromagnetic signatures associated with their formation.  The successful applicant will have access to computational resources and modern, open-source simulation cod
