Course description

This course applies practically knowledge acquired in Observational Astrophysics I. The practical work is carried out at the Onsala Space Observatory and by remote observation at the Nordic Optical Telescope, La Palma. You will have to write a complete telescope time application as well as plan and execute the observations. The course gives you skills to use software packages used to control the telescope and to obtain and reduce the data.

Room FC61, floor 6, AlbaNova, Roslagstullsbacken 21, Stockholm.

The course includes a mandatory observation trip to Onsala. Details for this excursion will be given at the start of the course. The observations with the NOT-telescope will be carried out by remote control from AlbaNova during night time.

Completed observational project and detailed report.

Note that this is a preliminary schedule which might be subject to minor changes during the course. Such changes are communicated by the teacher and will generally not be reflected on this page.

The observation time at Onsala and the NOT are fixed by the observatories and will not be changed.
