Primary level (Bachelor) courses

Astrophysical Spectra AS5004, 7.5 hp

Studies of spectra are a fundamental tool in astrophysics. This course will introduce you to the tools that are required to characterize the radiation that originates in astronomical objects. Analyzing spectral observations will be your key to inferring the physical conditions that are present in the object where radiation originates.

Astronomy, Degree Project AS6001, 15 hp

The degree project aims to give you both insights and experience with scientific research. Key moments are the planning, execution and reporting of your research project. You will produce a scientific report and present your research results orally in a scientific seminar.

Observational Astrophysics I AS7003, 7.5. hp

This course deals with fundamental concepts in observational astronomy/astrophysics. It teaches the concepts needed to plan and execute observations for scientific purposes, as well as for interpreting the resulting data.

Observational Astrophysics II AS7004, 7.5. hp

The course provides a completely hands-on introduction to how astrophysical observations are performed, at optical and radio frequencies. Attendees will use the Onsala 20m radio dish and the Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT) to observe astrophysical bodies and subsequently analyze the data.

Planet and Star Formation AS7015, 7.5 hp

In this course you will study the formation of stars and planets from a combination of state-of-the-art theory and observation. The process starts with a cold giant molecular gas cloud and ends when the star appears on the main sequence and a planetary system has formed.

Astrophysical magnetohydrodynamics AS7019, 7.5hp

In this course you will learn about flows of neutral fluids and plasma in astrophysics.

Astronomy, Degree Project AS9003, 30 hp
